One of our remarkable influenced projects is the Baku Torch Flame Towers.
Baku Torch Towers - Google Search
see the video
https://youtu.be/7ourEyrXDrg
We met in Palm Springs at our weekly show we displayed for 11 years. We also provided 4 Vortex Fires in the Baku Steak house restaurant. The architects were excited to get such an inspiration from our Features.
Baku Flame Towers is a striking new addition to the skyline of Baku. Located atop a hill on the Caspian Sea overlooking Baku Bay and the old city center, the three towers were inspired by Azerbaijan's ancient history of fire worshipping, and will illuminate the city and act as an eternal flame for modern Baku. The goal of the project was to create a low-resolution media façade to display video content, while integrating inconspicuous lighting fixtures into existing architecture. To meet the project requirements, Traxon created a special fixture, to be installed behind the buildings' windows and give the allusion of ribbons of light. The main challenge of this project was the varying window dimensions, and that the maximum gap between fixture and window frame needed to be less than 15mm. With a flexible mounting solution and intelligent calculation, the project team reduced the overall amount of needed fixtures to only 16 different modular lengths. The entire three-tower installation is controlled by an e:cue Lighting Control Engine fx (LCE-fx) running Emotion, and Video Micro Converters (VMCs). Typically displaying burning flames, the intelligent control system allows for simple lighting show changes to reflect additional animations and graphics for special events, such as the recent 2012 Eurovision Song Contest.

VortexED '55' Ignition Instructions and Burn Times
How long do these burn? Here is your answer.

Q & A
Q. There are two or three ‘flags’. I get that the solid one is for snuffing the flame but not sure about the second one with the hole in the center. It seems to tame the flame a bit but the arm sticking out of the glass doesn't make sense. Is the unit intended to be operated with the hole flag in place?
A. The flags with Holes are to lower the flame. The reason for the arm is so that you can insert the snuffer without coming close to the fire. Again Snuffers with holes make the flame smaller.
Q. Also, the IPA (isopropyl alcohol) we had at the house is 70%. I think IPA can be bought at 99% . Do you recommend one over the other?
A. 70% is fine and is usually costs less, anywhere from $1.50 to $.89 cents a quart. 99% can be more expensive and doesn't burn any better. However, you could switch to denaturized alcohol for your Vortexed55 and the flame will burn blue. Denaturized alcohol is available at Home Depot or Lowes for about $15.00 a gallon.
Q. Finally, how much alcohol should go the fuel container? Is there a level that should be maintained for optimum performance?
A. Typically filling the container about 80% is best. After a few burns, there will be water/hydrogen at the bottom of the cup, dispose of it. It will not burn.
Further Recommendations...
- For older models - having a good pair of leather gloves to handle the reservoir cup when removing it is advisable.
- Keep a flat piece of stone, marble or any heat resistant shield between your Vortexed55 and the table surface.
- For tall and older models, Vortexed55's, using a pair of pliers to lift and lower the reservoir cup makes the job a lot easier, especially when re-inserting a full cup.
- ALWAYS make sure the fire is completely OUT before handling the reservoir cup.
- NEVER pour any flammable liquid onto a flame. Even vapors can ignite and create a very dangerous situation.

This water feature was built to be movable and not a permanent structure. We can build any size or shape with any material. Typically these would be grouted in place after installation. Fire can be added almost anywhere. The VortexED fires were added on each back ledge.
Now we will take you through a step by step from building to installation and final operation.
Some of the pictures may appear to be the same, but they are from different perspectives and angles. We are trying to show you as much detail as possible.

The outer seating ring was transported on it's own flat crate and then simply slid onto the basin.

The rear side panels for access were attached with industrial Velcro for easy opening and access to the controls and electrical.

The complete unit was 36" tall and 72" wide when finished. The base was 18" tall with seating on the outer edge and the back wall was 18" above the basin. The two VortexED Fires were 18" withe the two back panels in reflective, making it look like several fires inside of the VortexED.

This was installed with L.E.D and incandescent rope lighting. You had both options of lighting or use both. The lighting was under the inside lip, outer lip and on the back wall.

This unit/ feature was built (in 12 2013) for $6,500.00 plus tile (not included) (or what ever material you like) plus installation and or delivery. Crating may apply if you need this shipped. It is recommended to grout these on the job site. Any questions, please call or e mail.

Here are the build picture as we progressed. We build every feature in house, any questions or comments are welcome.

Various Custom Fire Tables Projects.
Our customer Phil Lee, contacted us to fabricate his dream fire table. To assure both customer satisfaction and our accuracy a cardboard mock-up was created; as seen next to the table in the first photo.
It was a natural gas fire table with a double 18 stainless steel burner ring.
Below the table has arrived at the house and undergoes the installation process. The base is made from Corten Steel, which is a particular type of metal that begins to rust but then stops; but not before providing a weathered / rustic look.
And though not visible, Phil requested that we attach wheels to the base, so that he could easily move his table around the patio.
The outer ring is filled with our crushed lava rock and in the center ring if filled with our beautiful Cobalt Blue Base Glass FireGlass. Lastly a glass piece placed over the table top.
Next to come? A custom cookie cutter logo of the letters S.K.Y for his fire area. And hopefully we will soon receive some night shots of the table on fire.
A custom, natural gas 18" x 48" x 48" all stainless steel fire table with all edge welding and grounded. Fire area size 24" x 24" with an 18" stainless steel ring. Wheels were added for portability.
The FireGlass was a combination of Gray Base Glass, Clear Pyrite Base Glass.

This table was built for our customer Sam Consos, who initially created a card-board mock-up of the proposed table. Having this type of paper prototype is a economical way to make mistakes.
Ultimately the steel fire table was powder-coated for a beautiful modern finish and filled with some of our Evergreen Reflective Base Glass fire glass.

Brushed aluminum construction with a transparent black powder coat finish. Stainless steel bolts with wrinkle finish corners.
Completed size 24" x 36" x 18" tall with Starfire Base Glass FireGlass, fueled by natural gas.
Paul Hammel one of our clients from San Fransisco had a very particular design idea for a portable outdoor fire table. Made of Corten Metal and fueled by natural gas this modern custom feature is both industrial and stylish.
The Media used was Four 4" Dark Brown FireBalls Three 6" Dark Brown FireBalls and 1/4" Super Black Base Glass FireGlass.

Here is another great example of a cardboard mock-up leading to a custom metal fire pit/table. Once we finalize the design and make sure we've covered all the logistics we move on to fabrication. We work with all types of metals.
Valves and location are important as well. The next fire pits were designed and built for the Marriott (Islandia previously) in Mission Bay California. We started with several cardboard mock up tables for the hotel to approve. We will explain as we move forward.
They ended up using a thermocouple and pilot light system with a battery operated igniter.
Built for the Marriott (Islandia previously) in Mission Bay California. The hotel decided on the granite and we cut the granite with water jet and polished the edges.
These were installed on the private patios of the hotel suites. The hotel decided on the granite and we cut the granite with water jet and polished the edges. These were installed on the private patios of the hotel suites.
This table was built for our customers the Borman's in Arizona. They weren't sure of what the surface of the table was to be; so they sent us various tiles to work with. We configured many variations and photographed the process. Follow along to see the process.

Below we cut away the base board to insert the glass to laminate the mosaic glass on to. We started with a Bronze Base Glass for the insert for the light to pass through. The customer choose the New New Yellow Base Glass for the insert for the mosaic portion. Now the laminating begins of a few thousand pieces.
Different lighting was tried until we found what worked best. A 20" x 20" pan was installed with an 18" double stainless steel burner for propane was installed. The lighting also lit the bottom portion of the table. The lighting was on a dimmer control as well.
In the pictures above you can see the propane controls or the fire feature. In between the glass mosaic pieces it was grouted which can also be any color. The table was on 6" wheels with a 20 lb propane tank underneath behind an access door.
The little metal corners on the bottom of the table you see are out riggers to set the table and stop it from wiggling when in place. Below is
Amber Base Glass in the fire table.
The next fire table was built by Brian Johnson of Omaha Nebraska, very nice! We supplied the components and Brian did the hard part, the table. We don't have the construction pictures but we do have the table finished. Add Bronze Base Glass and to pit with 1 lb of Ice Ice Ice Topper, you are done.
The blue is actually food coloring.
This particular table was a re-design of an HGTV fire table we built several years ago, for our customer in NYC. In this first photo you can see the bottom basin pan, which catches the water as it falls through, creating a white noise. And in the 2nd photo, up in the upper left corner, you can see the Auto Fill Valve which helps regulate and maintain water levels.
Intelligently designed with a removable panel for easy access for whenever maintenance is needed.
The custom table was constructed of a galvanized steel, with a natural gas Fire Bowl and an overall completed size of 60" x 60" by 28".
The FireGlass used was V Blue Reflective Base Glass.
Here you can see the tables metal frame being completed and ready for the surface work to begin. Note, how the water falls between the small slits around the square base of the fire bowl. Effectively hiding the waterfall, but not its white noise sound.
Here is an insane amount of pictures showing you our newest Fire Tables. These are just a few options on a few of these new laser cut tables. We will explain as we go. The table below is an aluminum table getting ready for the granite top that was picked out by it's new owner.
The granite goes on.
The Starfire Base Glass goes in with a 19" double stainless steel ring.

Here is the fire table in the customers backyard in Palm Springs California. They used a quick
disconnect gas line to connect the fire pit from the Barbecue."

The fire pit table below is one of our newer table designs. The customer used a Starfire Base Glass and Topped it with Copper Blue Topper, Lime Green Topper with a few Black Luster Topper accents. We built the aluminum framed table and used their granite.
The portable fire table/ pit below was built by Kris Day. This is a portable Propane Fire Pit and he installed Azurlite Base Glass. This is a fairly simple project that we can help you build by monitoring and supplying the correct parts. From the start here we go.

From start to finish, propane or natural gas burners with or without a pan, we can help you build your own.

The fire bowl below is one of our newest products/ projects. The first one went to Ramsey Burton in Kentucky of which after he installs it is his ten foot granite table we will show you pictures of his project. This is a 48" spun aluminum bowl with a 24" center bowl with a water feature with fibre optics. The outer bowl has a stainless steel ring for a full surround fire feature. So here are the first proto-type pictures from the shop.
The glass we used was our
Multi Mix Base Glass. At least 80 colors are showing.
These pictures show what happens when it gets darker as the fire is attracted to the water. Opposites attract, maybe this is why most of us are still together. The question is" Who is the FIRE?"
No we add the fibre optics in the center bowl. You can change the water head for a different effect.
We are going to be showing this for the first time in Palm Springs on December 06 2007 on Thursday evening at the Village Fest. This is just a base you would build your table around and we can add any feature or effect you would like. We will be adding several features to this fire/ water feature in the next few weeks. We will be posting pictures from the Village Fest after the first showing. If you dream it, we will build it.
The fire table below was built for Dr. Ramsey Burton in Kentucky. We are going to show you from beginning in the shop to the finished product that Ramsey envisioned for his patio. Ramsey did a wonderful job in planing, building and execution of this project. The glass he used was a
Starfire Base Glass with
Ice Ice Ice Topper on top. Here we go:
These were the pictures we sent Ramsey after assembly and testing of the fire bowl, water pumps and fibre optics. The glass we tested with usually is our
Multi Mix Base Glass. It tends to show off many colors and always looks great. Above you can see the gas line and electrical.
Access panel below. Below the bowl was fitted. Don't ever forget to install a trimming valve!
There are 6 colors on Ramsey's color wheel in the fibre optics.
Above and below you can see the cover Ramsey have made to protect the fire table when not in use. Great job Ramsey!
The next table was built for a customer in La Jolla California. The table was 30" x 60" with a 24" x 54" fire pit area. They are going to make their own granite top to overlay.
All metal construction and their granite cut and installed.
The collection of Fire Tables below are from D Cook, one of our dealers and a manufacture of some really nice high end fire tables and planter boxes in any and all metals.
Below is our display just setting up in Palm Springs. This is a 36" steel table with a 42" aluminum top fitted with a 18" pan and we installed a 12" double stainless steel ring into the pan. On top of the table is one of our 18" low profile pans and to the right is one of our newer round stainless steel RV Fire Pit burners fitted for propane.
Below is an 18" aluminum Fire Table fitted with a 12" stainless steel ring burner. Below is an 18" steel Fire Table (uncoated) burning with Starfire Base Glass and a few Clear Diamonds on top. Below is our 18" Fire Table fitted with a single stainless steel ring burner. This is our low profile Fire Table also used in our RV Fire Pit series of pan burners.
Below is the 20" round stainless steel pan burner. We installed Black Magic for the show. The Black Magic gets the attention of almost every one. These pans will also be available in aluminum as well. These were designed with taking them out camping and when your finished you can install it in your table at home. Or just leave it on the table top or even leave it it on the ground. These can be made fro natural gas or propane. Below is our 18" steel Fire Table with Starfire Base Glass and Clear Diamonds on top.
Below is our 36" aluminum Fire Table. This is on the back of our show trailer just before we set the show up.
Above and below is our 18" Fire Table burning at the show.
Below is our 36" aluminum Fire Table with a triple 24" stainless steel ring installed. Above is with out the flash and below is with the flash so you can see what it really is!
Below is a 24" x 60" stainless steel Fire Table with a 12" x 48" burner area with Bronze Base Glass installed. We used a 38" "H" burner in stainless steel. The table was powder coated to the customers choice of colors. There were actually two of these delivered to San Diego. This was delivered and installed in San Diego California.
The fire pit/ table is at the Roxbury Hotel and we will show you the progress here from beginning to end. This was a propane installation with our FPPK burner. The colors used were:
Above shows the framing and the gas line coming in.
Below shows the pipe coming out of the floor and the thermocouple on the glass next to the igniter

Cool Flames
This is a Black Magic Fireplace in action! Thanks Brent! On this page we will be posting some real cool fire flame pictures. This fireplace has, A Black Magic, 1/2" Gray Base Glass, Bronze Base Glass, Bronze Reflective Base Glass, 1/2" Bronze Base Glass. But you can't see that now. We will be posting daytime pictures so you can see the actual glass. We will be posting the yellow flames as well. Your more than welcome to send your pictures for us to post.
Comments and testimonial by the customer:
Ed
Here are the other shots you requested. I tried many angles, lights, etc., yet could not get an accurate picture of the natural light setting. The silicone carbide is so reflective that it goes to light grey in all of the shots, and the smoke glass looks pale green/blue where in reality it looks almost black.
Another description that may be even more appropriate of the daytime look is that of a neatly piled burned out fire, except that all of the “ash” is reflective and sparkly.
Can not explain why in some of the shots the flame appears greenish. The blue colored flames are not exactly right either. The real color is closer to ultraviolet than anything else.
Several of the shots, including 01, 29, and 50, have been taken from the same location. You can tell the ones taken at full open valve by the increased amount of color in the shots.
Additional photos in separate mailings

I am very happy with my “new” gas fireplace. I thought I would share with you the enclosed photos taken with an ordinary digital camera with no ambient light except the fire itself. The camera was placed in various locations around the fire on the hearth proper. Unfortunately the stills cannot depict the fire action. What is amazing about the fire is the low spread out blue flame pattern instead of the conventional tall yellow flames in the middle.
The fireplace is open on three sides 30”x40”, The pit was filled with coarse bagged lava rock form Home Depot approximately 1” deep to the bottom of the U shaped burner gas pipe with the holes pointing down. It was then topped with Moderustic fine lava rock to fill in the voids on the top leaving the bottom of the burner only slightly submerged below the layer of the finer lava rock from Moderustic..
The next layer was black sand followed by S----- C-----. The sand was mounded in the center over the burners. A sprinkling of grey glass over the SC and a topper of Bronze ½” glass was sprinkled over the smaller sized matrix to finish. The final product is very dark and reflective with tiny reflections off of the s----- c------ and larger reflections off of the gradated glass during the day and in ambient light. It looks a little like a lava field that you might run across in the Mojave Desert near Barstow. Not at all showy, yet very subtle to the view in daylight.
The coarse lava rock on the bottom layer, with the finer layer on top to keep the gas in longer, acts as manifold carrying gas to all portion of the firebox floor covered with that material. I stopped the coarse rock short of the metal posts in a semi circular shape in plan and back filled with sand so that the flame would not reach the posts. The visual result around the posts is that the gas reaching the end of the coarse material immediately goes upward creating a flowing arc of fire around the posts. This is seen as a blur in the photos.
The underlying coarse rock distributes the gas pretty evenly across the firebox floor creating a even matrix of small flames on the surface as it works its way up through the media. The extreme perimeter appears more active. There are more constant more steady flames from the mound. Because there is less gas at the perimeter, the gas there burns in horizontal spurts and appears like lightning bolts licking the edges of the firebox.
There are small vortexes of fire that form and sometimes work there way around the base of the mound on the center but usually preferring a particular area to hang out.
The overall effect is one of a dispersed flame. As if the entire bed of the fireplace is afire with a low blue flame. With all the lights out in the room it is quite magical. Not at all anything like a conventional yellow flame in the center. Due to the dispersion of the flame across the large firebox area, there is a lot of heat generated and dispersed into the room instead of up the flue. This is not a design for summer time nights.
Everyone who witnesses this flame is impressed with the “light show” quality of the burn.
In the future I plan to change out the media and experiment with different ways to direct the gas and resultant flame to achieve different effects.
Next time I am thinking of laying a pattern of coarse rock and infilling between the “arms” of coarse rock with sand so that the gas will follow the “arms” and come up in more predictable places, perhaps creating little vortexes or pyres at the ends of the “arms”.
Regards,
Keary Gregg

The pictures below are of: Bronze Base Glass, Dark Red Orange Topper, Gold Base Glass, Amber Topping, Scarlet Red Topper and Diamonds. The back of the fireplace was done with Ceramic tiles. Very nice and in Palm Springs.

The pictures below are of a log converted fireplace in Newport Beach now we can even produce tornadoes! This fireplace has
Starfire Base Glass,
Diamonds and a few cool fire tornadoes! We can control the size and duration of these little fire devils!

This is our latest venture and the first ones will be installed in a month or so. We will be posting pictures of the completed project. These are very futuristic Tiki Torches if that's what you would like to call them, enjoy.

This last one looks like Wilma Flintstone?
What we have done is create a vortex and added fire! These will be made available in all sizes, colors and shapes. Stay tuned for more installation pictures!

Our newest line of burners are the star burners available in 12", 18" 24" and 30" in stainless steel and steel
30" star

24" star

12" star

These are also made in custom sizes as well. If you dream it, we can make it! These can be made with a base or with out. The can be made for propane or natural gas.
The Sticks below are a pro-to type of 2 sets that are being installed in Nipomo California in the Trilogy project by Shea Homes (Pismo Beach). We will follow up with completed pictures as soon as we have time to post the finished project. There are several fireplaces which will also be all electronic ignition as well
At the base of each burner there is a control valve to regulate the flow of fuel to the burner. The base will be covered with our black sand to conceal the valves. We will post pictures of the finished and completed project.
The fireplace below is in Hope Ranch, Santa Barbara, California. First we installed the double "H" burner.
Then we pour 2" of crushed lava rock as a base over the burners.
Then we add one match and poof, BLUE FLAMES!
The customer had a green theme and so we topped it off with our Green coating.
The fountain below was converted to a fire pit with
Black Magic. We use a several hundred pounds of lava rock then topped it with
crushed lava rock to keep the materials from falling through. After we placed the
Black Magic on the lava rock Craig topped it with
Clear Pyrite Base Glass,
Clear Diamonds,
Black Base Glass,
Black Reflective Base Glass and now he has one cool fire feature. We will show you from beginning to end.
Here you can see the lightly coated Black Magic with our glass for accents and sparkle.
Here you can see the Diamonds. When you see the Diamonds in the fire they appear to be melting but actually they are only reflecting inside which looks like they are melting. They are made from crystal. And with everything just right you have the Black Magic look!
Nice Flames!
The next several pictures are of a 24" x 54" x 3 1/2" deep triangle pan with our first Ribbon Burner! It lays in a bed of black silicone carbide "Black Magic"

The flames measured 24" tall below! Because of the design we implied to this new burner they seem to be coming from nowhere!

We didn't fill the pan with sand just because. These ribbon burners will be available very soon and we will post dozens more pictures as we have time to post them for you to see. The will be available in steel or stainless steel. With or with out a pan. This burner was built for another customer in Palm Springs for their fireplace and we will post pictures of it as well.

This pan will be installed in a custom table built by the customer in Palm Springs.

The fireplace below is a Malm Carousel Fireplace. We replaced the attempted dual burner which it was originally installed with with a simple 12" steel ring.
This fireplace has a safety pilot light kit which was still left intact for local code reasons but we did get rid of the non functioning pan burners.
Below we poured the crushed lava base up to and just covering the ring burner.
With the doors closed just enough as you can see now they can control the hurricane/ tornado effect!
The next fireplace was installed by Brent Freeby of BrentFreebyDesign.com.

Here is how it all started...
Now after building, crating and shipping, bring them up 120' straight up!

Now get ready to just relax and enjoy!

Now for the three 5 foot round tables. This is how we assembled the tables.
That was the rough fit and finish. Now for the final fit, brushing and clear coat powder coat.

This is how we designed and fabricated these round tables with electronic ignitions.
We design and build all of our own tables, features, pits or what ever you like.
58" across to have a 62" piece of granite laminated to the granite.

Now for the crating, shipping and crane it up.
Now for the two 11 foot fireplaces. They were constructed of #5052 grade aluminum with a special heat resistant powder coating and special technique of brushing that creates the metal to have an amazing reflection of the flames. The end result was awesome! As if they are dancing on the back panel; we even got the flames to reflect at the top of the fireplace.
Now we added glass (Starfire Base Glass) and watch the flames and there reflections. Do you see the upper reflection? Now how long do think it will be before the fireplace industry knocks this one off? With what we know and what we have done, I don't think they are smart enough. By the time the industry figures this one out, we will have already moved on creating and giving you new and exciting products.
The pieces are finished with their element of Red places on their base.
We were there for the Halloween party on October 26th.
Now for the Vortex Fire features. They were 48" tall with 16" tall brushed bases. Clear coated (powder coat) and decals of the "V" logo from the Vertex Sky Bar.
